Nell was born in Elk Point, SD. The second child and first daughter of Edward Charles Ericson. In 1897 her parents left for a three month trip to Europe. Nell and her siblings were taken care of by their grandmother, Johannah Ericson.

Nell graduated from Elk Point High School.

In 1910 tickets had been purchased for either Nell or Florence to travel with their father to Europe in the spring of 1910 (Madison Outlook, obit). This trip was never realized as 'Papa' died February 8, 1910 while Nell was attending Oberlin College. "My poor sister Nell was sent for and learned of her father's death on her way home when she saw the headlines in a Sioux City Journal." (Sylvia Florence Ericson/Tone)

Nell graduated from Oberlin College (located in Ohio) in 1910.

February 14, 1912 Nell married George Edward Minty in her parents home in Elk Point. She was 26 years old. "One of the very prettiest weddings which Elkpoint has ever seen occured(sic) at the home of Mrs. Sylvia Ericson at one o'clock on Wednesday, February 14 when the elder daughter, Nell Hayes Ericson was united in marriage to George Edward Minty, Rev. T. J. Woodcock of Alton, Kansas performing the ceremony." (Local newspaper)

January 19, 1919 - Daughter, Margaret Hayes was born.
January 6, 1922 - Son, Edward Ericson was born.
May 1, 1924 - Daughter, Mary Louise was born.

1928 Moved to Billings, Montana and lived about two blocks from the Tones --Ransom and Florence, her sister. (Mary Lou Minty Christensen) --Nell-42yr

1932 Moved to Missoula, Montana. (May Lou Minty Christensen) --Nell 46yr

1942 October 24th Nell died from cancer of the esophagus. She was only 56 years old.
